Fiona Harvey, who became the prototypical protagonist of the dark comedy ‘The Stag’ Martha, has sued Netflix, accusing the streaming service of defamation. According to the Scotswoman, the series, scripted by Richard Gadd and based, as he claims, on real events from his life, caused her emotional distress and violated her rights of publicity.

Fiona Harvey’s lawsuit says Netflix has told ‘harsh lies’ about her in the series ‘The Fawn.’ “The lies about Harvey that Defendants have shown to their more than 50 million subscribers worldwide include that Harvey has been tried twice for stalking and sentenced to five years in prison, and that she sexually assaulted Gadd. The defendants were not shy about telling these lies and were not going to stop because their story made far more money and sold better than the truth,’ the lawsuit says. Fiona Harvey’s lawyers insist that the woman’s reputation and entire life ‘has been ruined’ as a result of the lies and the defendants’ “reckless behaviour”.
