What is the TV series ‘The Fawn’ about?
‘The Stag,’ based on a script by Richard Gadd in which he plays a fictionalised version of himself, is about aspiring stand-up Donny Dunn, who, while moonlighting at a bar, meets middle-aged woman Martha (Jessica Gunning) and becomes the victim of harassment from her. She floods him with thousands of emails and threatens his family and girlfriend. The opening credits for the series state that ‘this is a true story.’ ‘The Fawn’ was released on Netflix on 11 April 2024 and soon became a hit, provoking ‘internet sleuths’ to take up the search for the real Martha, which was successful.
